What Kind of Prophet was Isaiah?

Monday, December 31, 2007

Last week, a prophetess friend of mine asked me a question: “What kind of prophet was Isaiah?” I thought she was going to give me an answer, or that it was something to reflect on. She said, “It’s not a trick question; get back to me.” So the holiday came and went and when I saw her next in church I offered her my take. Isaiah was a prophet of hope. Keep Reading »

Was Judas a Demon?

Friday, December 28, 2007

We all know that the Apostle Judas was a traitor, a betrayer, a backstabber. We all know Satan entered him. But some are now saying Judas was an actual demon. Indeed, a new translation of the recently revealed Gospel of Judas suggests that Judas Iscariot was not only a traitor but as a demon also.

Let’s just skip the controversy over the so-called Gospel of Judas. I don’t want to touch that. But what are your thoughts on this “new revelation” of Judas Iscariot? Did he have a demon or was he actually a devil himself?

My personal opinion is that Judas was influenced by religious spirits and Jezebel spirits. He was controlling, manipulative and greedy. If the Prophet Jonah was a mess, the Apostle Judas made him look like an obedient servant by comparison. These same spirits — religion and Jezebel — are still trying to get those who follow Jesus to betray him today.

The Spiritual and Natural Side of Fasting

Thursday, December 27, 2007

Prophetess Gerry Claytor did a fantastic job of explaining why we fast on her local TV station. She said, fasting helps us find God’s will. If we expect God to reveal His direction for our lives, we must put Him first. Often this means putting aside the fulfillment of our physical appetites so that we can focus our attention on Him. You can read or watch her interview by clicking here. Keep Reading »

Prophets Pass Judgment on America

Wednesday, December 26, 2007

Remember all those prophecies out there on the Internet that declare the Lord is bringing judgment on the U.S. in the month of November 2007. These directives suggested we begin stockpiling food and supplies. Well, November is come and gone. It’s December 26. Judgment did not come to America.

Once again, all prophecy must be judged. God did no pour out His wrath on the United States of America. What is the inspiration of such prophecies, then? Prophecy come from one of three sources: the Holy Spirit, the human spirit or an evil spirit. Where are these seemingly endless prophecies about the destruction of America coming from, then? You know, the ones that never come to pass?

Packing, Praying, Praching Pouting or Prophesying? You Decide.

Wednesday, December 12, 2007

I love the story of Jonah, so when I saw this post over at Barrie, Beliz, Bolivia and Beyond, I had to stop and read. The author makes breaks the book into two halves — the disobedience of Jonah and the obedience of Jonah. Of course, Jonah may have eventually submitted, but his heart about Nineveh’s possibility of repentance was never quite right.

Jonah was a mess. He was a pouting prophet, a selfish prophet, a proud proud prophet, a prejudiced prophet, all in all, he was a pitiful prophet, indeed. But we can learn a lot from old Jonah, if we open our spiritual eyes and years. Ask the Lord to show you ways in which you are mimicking Jonah’s character, if you dare! What you learn could set you free to discover a whole new level of God’s power.

What Does Prophetic Accountability Mean to You?

Friday, December 07, 2007

When you hear the word “accountable” what comes to mind? For many prophets, it carries a negative connotation. It may seem restricting, confining, or otherwise unpleasant. But I submit to you that accountability is a safety net. Keep Reading »

Ch-ch-ch-changes

Thursday, December 06, 2007

I stumbled upon a post from Legacy of Worship International on the Eight Purposes of Signs and Wonders. Check out this excerpt from the blog:

The sixth sign of a prophetic church is her willingness to be periodically re-calibrated by the Spirit of God. This is not to be confused with just a willingness to stay “current” or “relevant” to ones generation. If we change for the sake of change or because it is the popular thing to do, we have missed the boat completely. Re-calibration is the result of adjusting to the will of the Spirit of God! Boasting in the Prophet

Wednesday, December 05, 2007

It is refreshing to see the humility and honor of God and His Son, Jesus, in this post by Prince Vince. Check out this excerpt:

When the prophets see Him in the Scriptures, they are always saying “One like a son of man”. He is so beyond us, so completely other than us that human language would have a hard time explaining Him without eternity. This is one reason why it is so silly to be boastful. Jeremiah said that the only ones that ought to boast are those who know and understand God. That rules out a good majority of the human race from boasting. If anything, Jesus is not like the prophets, but the prophets are like Him. It was the touch of eternity that gave the prophets authority, eyes to see what they saw, ears to hear His word and the endurance to do the strange things they were instructed to do. Keep Reading »

U.S. Evangelist with a Death Wish

Tuesday, December 04, 2007

As WorldNetDaily reports, an American evangelist has jumped into the fray over the fate of a British teacher facing calls for death over a teddy bear named “Muhammad.” Bill Keller, host of LivePrayer, has posted a video on YouTube featuring a pink, toy pig named Muhammad after the Muslim prophet.

What’s your take? Is Bill Keller a noble, brave Christian or is he asking for a fatwa on his head? Is it a well-organized effort to generate publicity for his ministry? Or a no-holds-barred display of his passion? Would you do this?
